New York State Association of Independent Schools, New York, NY
Project Goal: Support the development of impactful makerspaces in schools
Description: Multiple day long sessions were offered through NYSAIS (all sold out in several days) in different areas of New York. The session focused on using the design process to define the student learning experience for a makerspace, a variety of provocations for educators to consider regarding the role of makerspaces, as well as the opportunity to try a variety of maker tools to explore the diversity and complexity of the tools that can be used in such a space.
What's Interesting? How do you create a maker culture in a school rather than just a space? How does the space spark wonder and curiosity in schools? How are such spaces created that support a school's curriculum but also enables students to explore their own passions?
